ENAD - Bringing Quality Indian Theater Locally

SHANIBAAR - A hilarious Bengali play by Badal Sircar

ENAD was proud to get invited to participate in the first Bengali Drama Festival in California organized by Sanskriti on 21st May, 2005. ENAD presented its sixth production Badal Sircar's Shanibaar, specially designed and produced for the festival. We are extremely happy to get a very positive audience feedback and also positive feedback from professionals of the field.  Shanibaar was again staged on 8th October, 2005 for Puja in Sunnyvale Temple.  This show was performed at request of Paschimi.

Shanibaar is a light-hearted play of hopes, exuberance, let-downs and inner-feelings of a common man. The story is told by one of the greatest playwrights of contemporary Bengal through the use of clever story-telling, insightful and humorous dialogues and situations. ENAD captures and enhances the story with its disciplined production by the use of competent acting, original scores and songs, imaginative sets and minimal but insightful light designs.

Shanibaar was originally performed on 21st May, 2005 at Amador Theater, Pleasanton.  Watch the video clips and see the pictures from the show.

“Overall production value is at par with Kolkata productions, most definitely.  Honestly speaking, I was very pleasantly surprised! Nothing in my experience of watching "prabaasi" Bangla theater over the last 17 years prepared me for ENAD.  I mean it. I look forward to working with you in some capacity some day.”
