EXTERNAL FEEDBACK

Parabaas

A Bengali play by Manoj Mitra, 16th August, 2003

Excellent work in your play Parabaas - especially Gajamadhab !!! However, I would have liked the team get introduced at the end - that may also help you get better connected with the audience... just a thought...

It was a great show ! We thoroughly enjoyed it, including some of the overacting. Who was the articulate, elegant, persuasive EMC?

Brinda Govindan

First of all, congratulations to ENAD on yet another polished, professional theater production. How your team can keep up this quality is cause for admiration! I really enjoyed the show and it was very well done. The acting was excellent, sets, lights and music (*especially* music) were superb. I don't know how you all do it!!!

It was nice to have a change of pace--ie light comedy, and great to have the audience responding so much throughout the show. One thing I could say about the play itself is that it is not very memorable--in other words, your last play really stuck in my mind for a long time afterwards, while this one didn't. I enjoyed it during the show but then forgot about it afterwards. I thought there was potential there for exploring relationship issues and other timely themes, but it didn't really go anywhere. Just when you thought the play was going to get a little serious or say something profound, it turned comic. There also was very little character development unlike in your last play.

Bhaskar Ghosh

I thought the production was slickly done. Errors were hard to find. Lines were not forgotten. Lighting changes were well done. This group has grown a lot in the last few years and people looked confident on the stage. That was a real pleasure to see. It was also wonderful to see a lot of new faces in your group.

I liked the power and projection in Gajamadhav's voice. The makeup made him look like Manoj-babu too. The play itself is rather poor. I didn't enjoy the humour too much, but I am glad lots of people in the audience did. This is important for ENAD since it is growing a real following in the Bay area like its Hindi counterpart Naatak. Overall, I was happy to see a professional and clean production.  A lot of effort must have gone into making that happen, and I admire all of you for that.

Bunti

Liked the play. Dadu was a pleasure to watch. Music was great! Everybody acted well but there is scope for improvement. Overall, the protagonist completely stole the lime light, he was exceptional!

Amit Basu

GajaMadhab and Mandira were really good. I wanted to know who GajaMadhab was.

Subhasish Mitra

Overall, a GREAT production.
