ENAD? What does that mean? "Ekti Natak-er Dal" … funny but that’s it.
Who are you? What are your objectives? We are an informal group of Bengali drama enthusiasts in San Francisco Bay Area who are committed to learn, practice, nurture skills in different aspects of drama production on a regular basis. We initially started working towards building an "interest group" with people who are interested in theater. Our long term objective is to establish ENAD as a professional drama group.
How do you plan to achieve this objective?
- Enhance our skills in different aspects of the drama production like stage, set, light, sound, music, acting, makeup, backstage, floor management, program/show/event management, choreography, direction etc. (reading, practice, discussion, performance experience, feedback etc.) through continuous learning.
- Keeping a sharp focus on and serious commitment to drama.
- Working towards making it a group activity rather than just a few people strung together.
- Stage good productions on a regular basis.
- Keep ourselves updated about Bengali drama (news, stories, history, reading, discussion).
- Help promoting Bengali drama in the area by helping other people.
Who can join ENAD? Basically anyone who subscribes to the basic philosophy of ENAD, is interested to work in a group like this and wants to have fun. People with no experience in drama production but interested and enthusiastic are also welcome to ENAD. We expect certain level of seriousness, responsibility and sincere commitment from our members.
How do you build the necessary skills? Our learning method is self and group practice, internal and external feedback and self study/analysis. We learn individually, we learn in a group.
Is ENAD a registered organization? Yes, it is a registered organization in the state of California.
Is there any membership fee? No. However, the members share the production and storage costs. However, production costs are reimbursed almost always by the benefactors of our productions.
How is the organization structured? Who is responsible for what? As mentioned earlier, we are an informal group. No structure in the group yet. Members volunteer for any responsibility which comes up in the process.
